Gorman, Samuel F., 79, died Thursday, December 19, 2024, at his home in Houston, Texas. Born in Providence, RI, a son of Barney and Anna “Honey” (Resh) Gorman, he had lived in Houston for over 40 years, previously living in Manhattan, NY.

Sam was an advocate and strong supporter of the Arts, including dance, theater, and the visual arts. He was an annual season ticket holder for the Houston Ballet for many years. He also served as a Trustee on the Board of Directors for the Museum of Fine Art, Houston on various committees, including finance, exhibitions, and acquisitions. He enjoyed collecting art through his international travels, especially Asia, and through his support of the Glassell School of Art in Houston. He also had a particular interest in Latin American art.

He enjoyed a long career as a Senior Partner at Ernst & Young where he served major international corporations around the world.

Sam earned a CPA from the Wharton School of Business and served on its board. Sam was an Army Veteran, serving in Germany.

Devoted brother of Charles Gorman of Cromwell, CT. Loving uncle of Jeff, David and Linda.

Graveside services will be held Friday, December 27, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Lincoln Park Cemetery, 1469 Post Road, Warwick, RI 02888. Shiva will be observed in private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, TX or the Samuel F. Gorman Endowed Scholarship Fund, Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
