Providence Bernstein, Joe “Seed”, 79, died Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the Providence VA Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Ginny (Gómez) Bernstein for 55 years. Born in Brooklyn, NY, a son of the late William and Sylvia (Margules) Bernstein, he had lived in Providence since 1984, previously living in Chicago, IL. He was in law enforcement for his entire career, serving as a night court officer in NY, border patrol in El Centro, CA, the smuggling unit and traffic control with INS, and the drug intradiction task force in Providence, RI, retiring in 1996.
