Sockut, Gary, 73, died Friday, September 22, 2023 at Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, MA. Born in Hartford, CT, a son of the late Yale and Dora (Bell) Sockut, he had lived in Watertown, MA for 4 ½ years, previously living in Newton, MA, San Jose, CA, Peekskill, NY, and the Washington DC area. He was a retired software engineer and researcher for several employers, with a specialty in database reorganization. Gary was proudly educated by Brown University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree, moving to MIT for his Master’s and finally receiving his PhD from Harvard University.

Dear brother of Judith Silverman (Harvey) of East Greenwich, RI. Dear uncle of Alan Silverman (Bonnie) of Saunderstown, RI and Kenneth Silverman (Kerren Buote) of Cranston, RI. Great-uncle of Noah Silverman and Hope Silverman.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in Lincoln Park Cemetery, 1469 Post Road, Warwick, RI 02888. Shiva will be observed in private.
