Field, Alan R.

WEST GREENWICH

Alan R. Field, 73, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023 with his loving and devoted family by his side.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, on May 13, 1949, he was the son of the late Paul and Hannah Joy Field. He leaves behind his beloved wife Lynn, his twin brother Michael and his wife Sharon. He was the proud father of Rachel LaButti, her husband Kurt, Daniel Field, and Adam Field and his wife Diane. A caring stepfather of Ryan Malloney and Brendan Malloney and his wife Lauren. Devoted grandfather to Emma, Olivia, Jonah, and Elijah. He was also the loving step-grandfather of Jackson and Lindsey, and the uncle of Amanda Field and Laura Kavanagh. He was the brother of the late Barry Field and brother-in-law of Kurt Weidman.

Alan graduated from Pawtucket West High School and Roger Williams College. Alan, with his brother Michael, owned Randall Hardware/Randall Wallcoverings in Providence for twenty years. He was a founding member of The Gold’s Gym in Pawtucket along with his brothers Michael and Barry.

Alan was most recently employed by E.A. Langenfeld as a top sales representative. He then retired and enjoyed photography and traveling with his wife, Lynn. He enjoyed tinkering with computers and would keep himself up to date on everything electronic.

Alan was on the board of trustees of Temple Torat Yisrael and a proud member of the Touro Fraternal Association.

He cherished the times he spent with his children and grandchildren. His family was paramount in his life and enjoyed every precious minute with them. They called him “Pops”. His family is especially grateful to Alan’s former wife, Sheryl Moran, for her caring visits to Alan during his illness.

Alan was such a nice person. This past summer we saw him at The Greenwich Club. We talked about the past and growing up in Providence and Pawtucket. We always found Alan to be a kind and gentle person. He will be greatly missed by his families and friends. Our condolences to everyone!

When we were children, our families were very close. I have so many fond memories, from my childhood, of time spent with the “Field twins”. When the family moved to Pawtucket, it might as well have been to Siberia since our time together was affected by “distance”. It has been a privilege to learn about Alan’s life as an adult. He had so much to be proud of and has left behind a powerful legacy. He was a man of great integrity and it is obvious that to him, family was everything. May you find comfort in his light and in his love.
