Sruel M. Oelbaum

Oelbaum, Sruel M., 86, died Friday, August 26, 2022 at Roger Williams Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Phyllis Oelbaum for 55 years. Born in Providence, RI, a son of, the late, Henry and Clara (Rubin) Oelbaum, he was a lifelong resident of Providence. He was a pharmacist and owner of the former Hall’s Drug Store, retiring over 15 years ago. Sruel was a member of Temple Emanu-El and was active with their minyan. He was also a member of the Jewish War Veterans.

Devoted father of Shelley, Douglas, Michael, and Ralph Oelbaum, all of Providence. Dear brother of the late Dorothy Klein. Loving Zadye of Miles, Jameson, and Sarah. Cherished companion of his dog, Brutus.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 29, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in Temple Emanu-El. Shiva will be observed at 100 Wayland Ave., #4, Providence, Monday through Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Temple Emanu-El, 99 Taft Avenue, Providence, RI 02906 or to the charity of your choice.

    So very sorry to hear of beloved Sruel’s passing. He meant so much to so many leaving an indelible mark to many generations, and will live in our memories and hearts.

    I wish to express my deepest sympathy. I cried when I heard. I wanted to come in to see everyone this summer but am haveing my own issues and am not allowed to travel.

    I’m very sorry to hear of Sruel’s passing, he was a great guy, and a valued customer, I thought you and Sruel were such awesome people and always a pleasure to work for. God bless both of you.

    I pretty much grew up at Hall’s lunch counter and continued to shop and get meds there as an adult. Sruel was a truly lovely man and always so kind.
