Estelle Rose Rosen

Rosen, Estelle Rose (Goldin), 92½, of Delray Beach, FL, died peacefully in her sleep on November 23, 2013 following a short illness. She was the wife of the late Harry J. Rosen who predeceased her in death in 1994.
 
Born in Providence, RI she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Celia (Chambers) Goldin. She was also predeceased by her older sister Betty (Goldin) Presser, her younger sister Frances (Goldin) Miller, and her brother Edward S. Goldin, as well as her granddaughter, Lauren Marlowe.
Mrs. Rosen was a graduate of Classical High School in Providence and attended Rhode Island College of Education (now R.I.C) where she earned B.A. in teaching in 1943. She was involved in numerous school activities. She did her graduate work at Russell Sage College and R.I.C.
Prior to her marriage to Mr. Rosen in 1944 she taught in the Providence Public Schools. Upon marrying Mr. Rosen, she moved to Georgia where she taught pre-school.
At war’s end they briefly moved to Boston, and then spent 20 years in Worcester, MA, followed by Rockville Centre, NY, Tucson, AZ, Schenectady, NY, and Providence, before retiring to Delray Beach.
Throughout her life, Mrs. Rosen was a teacher both in secular and religious education. She was also involved in activities ranging from president of her local Na’Amat group to president of her condominium. She was a member of Temple Sinai, Delray Beach and Temple Beth-El, Providence.
Her house was always a beehive of activity filled with family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening and doing outdoor activities at home.
She leaves two sons, Joel D. Rosen, Esq. (Janis) of Newtown, PA, Dr. Daniel B. Rosen of New York, NY and a daughter, Celia Marlowe (Douglas) of Boynton Beach, FL, as well as four grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
Services will be held in Shalom Memorial Chapel, 1100 New London Ave., Cranston, RI on Tuesday, November 26th at 2:00 PM followed by burial in the Sons of Israel & David Cemetery, Providence
Shiva will be held at the home of Maxine Goldin, 51 Harwich Rd., Providence on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday 2-4 p.m.
