Susan Linda Field

DATELINE: CRANSTON
Field, Susan Linda, 84, died Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Kent Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence H. Field.  Susan was born in New York City, the daughter of the late Bernard and Hilda Kaplan of Swampscott, MA.   She had lived in Cranston, RI for 51 years and raised three sons while teaching elementary school in the Cranston School System until her retirement.  Susan was the original helicopter mom, long before someone invented the term.  She sacrificed her own career to raise a family at a young age and make sure her children lived their dreams. Some children aren’t fond of helicoptering parenting, but it is undeniable her technique worked.   She gifted her sons with a love of reading, writing and lifelong learning.  They returned the favor with 4 grandchildren who adored their Grandma Shu Shu.  Susan is survived by her sons Andrew Field of North Bethesda, MD,  Scott Field of Center Valley, PA, Adam Field of San Diego, CA and her grandchildren, Rachael Field of Los Angeles California and Juliana, Jessica and Joshua Field of Center Valley, PA.  Funeral Services and Shiva will be private.  Burial will take place on Friday, July 3 at Lincoln Park Cemetery, Warwick, RI.  In lieu of flowers, please contribute to your favorite charity in Susan’s memory.

Sorry to hear about Sue’s passing. She was very kind to my mother, in her later years. An avid mahjong player as well. Condolences to Adam and family.
