Ruth Shapiro

Shapiro, Ruth, 90, died Friday, March 2, 2018 at Village House Nursing Home. She was the beloved wife of the late Lester Shapiro. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Max and Lillian (Burwick) Freiberg, she had lived in Cranston for over 60 years, previously living in Providence. She was teller at 1^st Federal Bank for 6 years and Old Stone for 10 years, and worked in sales at PPAC for 5 years.  Ruth was a member of Garden City School PTA and a former member of Temple Sinai and its sisterhood. Devoted mother of Don Shapiro of Chicago, IL, Mort Shapiro and his wife, Michelle, of Burlington, VT and Louis Shapiro and his wife, Ginamaria, of Saunderstown, RI. Dear sister of the late Jerry Freiberg and Syril Gordon. Loving grandmother of Lane and his wife, Claire, Hannah, Celia, Levi and Ty. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in SHALOM MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1100 New London Ave., Cranston. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Alzheimer Association, 345 Waterman St., #306, Providence, RI 02906.  Shiva will be private.
