    Dear Donna, Richard and Rob,
My thoughts and prayers have been with you every day. Mark was an extraordinary individual who touched many lives during his journey. As I said to him before he went to Australia, the lives of his friends here would be much less colorful while he was away. Now we must hold his colors safe in our hearts and keep him with us always in our spirits. Heartfelt sympathy goes out to all the rest of the family as well. Our hearts are so heavy now, but our lives are the better for Mark’s life and love.

      For Mark’s Family,
Mark, in his short life, changed the lives of others with his helping hand, as he reached out to enable others to feel better while easing their pain, creating laughter where sadness had been before.
Mark will be missed, but those who were fortunate enough to know his sweetness, will hold some of him in their hearts forever.
      With so much love,
      Mary and Tot

    Donna,
Thinking of you and your family. Actually Mark and I had 2 big things in common – our love of music and our love of dogs. I remember teaching Mark – I think he always knew that music would help him through his life. It is such a great loss at such a young age. May your special memories of him help sustain you at this very difficult and sad time.

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Mark a few years ago here in Portland, when a band he was playing bass for performed at the bar I was working at. We struck up a conversation, and before you know it he would come in a few times a week, and we would talk about anything from music, to food, to world views. He was a very, very special individual, and I miss him so. Last night, at the open mic I help host, I had all the patrons at the bar raise their glass for my fallen friend, it was hard to go to the next song as the tears mad it very hard to see my instrument. All of his friends over here in Portland are holding a “mourning” of sorts for him tomorrow, Thursday the 12th, at one of his favorite hang out spots, I can tell you the emotions tomorrow will be through the roof. He was loved very much, and will be missed even more.

With these tears in my eyes, I can only imagine how you guys must feel.

        My condolences,
        Todd

I am so sorry to hear that Mark is gone. I was with him through some pretty rough times and he always had a way of making something ridiculous out of even the most awful moments. He told me many times that I’d better not cry when I hear he’s passed. That having been said, without that absurdly upbeat and morbid weirdo in my life, nothing will ever be quite the same. Mark, wherever you are, you will be missed. Also, if you’ve faked your death for some reason, I will kill you.
To Mark’s parents, I met you once upon a time. You were sweet people, and I hope you know how much he loved you. I’m sorry I found out about this so late. I wish I could have been there to give you my regards in person.
    With love,
    Josh

    Mr. and Mrs. Goldstein,
I am deeply saddened to hear about Mark’s passing. We have drifted apart over the past few years, with only but a few random conversations here and there. That is life I suppose, people go their own separate ways. Even though we each went on our own journeys, I always had Mark in the back of my mind. We had some great times growing up. Mark was a talented musician and a great friend among many other things. He will forever be in my memories. My condolences to you and your family. Mark was truly a great person and will be missed by all those he touched.

    Dear Donna, Robert, Rob-

Few students have taught me as much as I learned from Mark. Few people have taught me as much as you taught me about the love and creation of family. I know there are no words to ease the loss. We have spent time thinking about our time with Mark. Our lives in Rhode Island were enriched because we knew all of you. While we are far away, the closeness and respect we have for each of you remains strong . With Warmest Regards- Robin Fogg

    Dear Rat,
I know you made me promise to dig up your body and rebury you on the slope of a beautiful mountain by a river or something like that, and as important as I believe it is to keep promises to close friends, frankly, I think people would notice. To Mark’s parents, I was in Hazelden and Serenity Homes with him, and he was one of my first and closest friends in portland. we played the musixz together and i loved the dude, still do. I’m living right down the street from a place called Montelo Jack’s where we lived together for a month or so and every time I pull in I think of him.
