Eli Kupitz
Kupitz, Eli, 85, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Sunny View Nursing Home. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy “Dotty” (Flaxman) Kupitz for 37 years. Born in Bronx, NY, a son of the late Shimon and Tillie (Brier) Kupitz, he had lived in both Warwick for 11 years and North Kingstown for 10 years and Des Moines, IA.
He was a graduate of RIT, Class of ’58 with a Bachelor’s Degree. Eli worked meticulously his entire career as a printing estimator for various companies across the US, retiring in 2000. He was a member of Temple Emanu-El and CCOD in North Kingstown, assisting with community projects. Eli enjoyed going to flea markets and yard sales on the weekends and finding a bargain to add to his collections. He collected an assortment of items including baseball cards, records, comics, stamps and other memorabilia.
Devoted father of Robert Kupitz (Kari Ward), Elizabeth Swanson (Douglas) and James Kupitz, all of Des Moines, IA and Carol Fox of North Kingstown. Dear brother of Ann Nejman (Sam) of FL and Marilyn Eiler of NY. Loving grandfather of Zachary, Rachel, Rebecca, Kelsey, Lauren and Megan. Cherished great grandfather of Iris.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 10:00 a.m. in Shalom Memorial Chapel, 1100 New London Avenue, Cranston, RI 02920. Shiva will be observed at Briarwood Meadows Clubhouse, 940 Quaker Lane, Warwick, Sunday 7-9 p.m. and Monday and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with minyan at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Temple Emanu-El Library Fund, 99 Taft Ave., Providence, RI 02906 or to the charity of your choice. Eli was a real force at the Concerned Citizens of Davisville for a lot of years. A real asset to the community. We miss him.
I worked alongside Eli for many years at CCOD. He was a dedicated person who really cared about the community. We will miss him.
