Shuman, Roberta “Bobby”
Shuman, Roberta A. “Bobby”, 91, of Lake Suzy, Florida died on August 13, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late Salomon Shuman.
Born in Providence, RI, a daughter of the late Rose (Schoenberg) and Paul Goldstein, she had lived in Providence, Warwick, and Narragansett until moving to Florida in 1991.
She was a legal secretary for many years, both in Rhode Island and in Florida. She was the first and founding President of the PTA for Cottrell F. Hoxsie School in Warwick. She was a member of Temple Beth Am in Warwick for 35 years, and in Florida she was a member of Temple Beth El in North Port, from 1992 where she served as President for 2 years, and its Sisterhood, where she was also President for 2 years. She was a member of ORT’s Affinity (book review group), an avid needlewoman, and enjoyed mah jongg, gardening and other activities. She was an active member of Kings Island Homeowners Association and had served as its Secretary.
She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 52 years, Salomon Shuman. She leaves two beloved daughters, Cindy Shuman (David Bernstein) of West Greenwich, RI, and Risa Shuman (Peter Gerard) of Foster, RI. Dear brother Sheldon Goldstein of Jacksonville, Florida, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves her beloved dog, Hope, who lives with Risa and Peter in Foster, and cats, Lance and Talli.
Graveside services will be held at Lincoln Park Cemetery on Sunday, August 16, 2026, 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are by Shalom Memorial Chapel.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
