Galkin, Trudy L.
Galkin, Trudy L., 98, died on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at her home at Wingate on Blackstone with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Herbert S. Galkin for 58 years.
Born and raised in Highland Park, NJ, she was a daughter of Emanuel and Adolphine (Gorta) Breitkopf, she lived in Providence for the last 2 years, previously living in Cranston for 74 years. She was a homemaker and devoted to her family. Trudy briefly served as an assistant teacher with the Meeting Street School after graduation from RI State College (URI) in 1949. Trudy enjoyed needlepoint, Mah-Jongg, bridge, tennis, and golf as well as boating with her husband and family. In her later years she liked to watch Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, and New England Patriots games to pass the time.
Devoted mother of David Galkin, his wife Ellen, of Providence, Harris Galkin, his wife Julianne, of Rumford and Paula Wasser, her husband Bruce of Warwick. Dear sister of the late Herman Breitkopf. Adoring aunt to Ann Webb and her husband Peter of Brookline, NH. Loving grandmother of Evan, Jason, Leah, David, Andrew and Ianna. Cherished great grandmother of Hadley, Beckett, Hudson, Nathan, Noah, Greta, Azalea and Judah.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, 10:30 am, in SHALOM MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1100 New London Ave., Cranston. Shiva will be observed in private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 97394, Washington D.C. 20077-7967.

My heartfelt Condolences to you all. Mom lived a full life yet we all still share the same sense of loss in our own way.
Auntie Trudy was my Godmother and I shall never forget her graceful presence and I can still hear the sound of her voice.
