Stuart Skerker, 70, of Attleboro, passed away on Thursday, surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, Stuart’s greatest joy was his family. Known affectionately as “Zaydie” to his grandchildren, he cherished spending time with them, sharing his love of reading, stories, and learning.

A man who could make friends with anyone, Stuart seemed to know everyone in town, and everyone seemed to know Stuart. Whether through his work, his community involvement, or simply his friendly nature, he formed connections wherever he went. Stuart was passionate about many things, including 70s rock music, musical theater, photography, and cheering on all of Boston’s sports teams. For many years, Stuart worked as a Systems Analyst for the Massachusetts Department of Revenue in Child Support. In addition to his work with the Department of Revenue, he served as a Correspondent Photographer for The Sun Chronicle for 45 years, documenting the people, events, and stories that shaped his community, and particularly loved covering the stories of the Attleboro Fire and Police Department. Stuart was rarely seen without a newspaper in hand and could often be found listening to his scanner late into the night, ensuring that important local happenings were captured and shared with others.

Stuart is survived by his beloved wife, Jill Skerker; his loving children, Rachel Skerker and her husband, Joshua Fortin; and Benjamin Skerker and his wife, Krystle Poirier; his cherished grandchildren, Levi Skerker-Fortin, Ziva Skerker-Fortin, and Piper Poirier-Skerker; his parents, Irving and Goldie Skerker of Longmeadow, Massachusetts; and his brothers, Hugh, Robert and Paul Skerker.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 12:00 noon, at the Agudath Achim Cemetery, 801 South Main Street, Attleboro, MA 02703, behind Hillside Cemetery. Public Shiva will be observed at 5 Chapel Hill Lane, Attleboro, on Tuesday, June 9, 2:00-4:00 p.m. & 7:00-9:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 10, 2:00-4:00 p.m. & 7:00-9:00 p.m. and Thursday, June 11, 2:00-4:00 p.m. & 7:00-9:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Stuart’s memory may be made to Capron Park Zoo, 201 Country Street, Attleboro, MA or PJ Library, 67 Hunt St., Suite 100, Agawam, MA 01001, two organizations that reflect his love of children, learning, and community. Stuart’s warmth, humor, and unwavering commitment to his family and community will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
