Eisenberg, Benjamin P., 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 6, 2024 in Sarasota, Florida. The son of the late Joseph & Sarah (Proctor) Eisenberg, Ben spent his formative years in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. After graduation from Brown University in 1951, Ben served in the United States Army stateside and in Korea, and as an active Reservist until 1964.
Ben married the late Marilyn (Young) Eisenberg in 1954 and they shared 65 years together until her death in 2019.
After his marriage, Ben joined his family retail business – Rathbun Outlet – where he worked for 37 years. Upon its closing in 1991, Ben co-owned Tikva Traditions in Providence, RI with his daughter Ellen Shafner until his retirement in 1996.
Ben was an avid reader, a sports and music enthusiast, and a man of abiding faith. He volunteered throughout his life, most recently at Anchin Assisted Living and Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium.
Ben is survived by his daughters and sons-in-laws, Ellen (David) Shafner, Nancy Eisenberg (Marc Brandriss), Marcey (Rob) Propp, and Susan Eisenberg (Mark Elliot), his 9 grandchildren, and his 23 great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in Lincoln Park Cemetery, 1469 Post Road, Warwick. Contributions in Ben’s memory can be made to Alzheimer’s research, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) & the Veteran Affairs: Voluntary Service (VA).
