Beckenstein, Phyllis P.
Phyllis Beckenstein, 82, died December 16, 2022 at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence, RI. She was the beloved wife of the late Irving Beckenstein with whom she shared 40 wonderful years.
Born in Worcester, MA, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anne (Sugarman) Minsky. She graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester.
Dear sister of Arline Porter and her late husband Calvin Porter of Peabody, MA and Stephen Minsky and his wife, Kay, of Columbia, SC.
Devoted mother of Larry Beckenstein and his wife, Michelle, of Manchester, NH, Louis Beckenstein and his wife, Gilda, of Scituate, RI, Brian Beckenstein and his wife, Alexandra, of Mansfield, MA and Neal Beckenstein of Pembroke, MA.
Loving grandmother of David, Jacob, Jessica, Joseph, and Shana.
She lived most of her life in Warwick, RI raising four boys. A loving mother who enjoyed spending summers at Scarborough Beach and Ocean Beach. Phyllis always cared for her friends, especially her longtime friend from Worcester, Phyllis Solod. She enjoyed bowling and spent some time as a Home Health Aid. She especially enjoyed walks through Roger William’s Park. Phyllis will always be remembered as a person with a kind heart.
Funeral services will be held graveside on Monday, December 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Lincoln Park Cemetery 1469 Post Road, Warwick, RI 02888.
Shiva will be observed at 69 Elyse Road, Mansfield, MA from 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Association – RI Chapter, 245 Waterman St., #306, Providence, RI 02906 or charity of your choice.
