Elaine L. Nevins

DATELINE: NEW BEDFORD

Nevins, Elaine L., 79, passed away on March 6, 2022 at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. A lifelong resident of New Bedford, she was born the daughter of the late Rubin and Gertrude (Lipman) Nevins.  She was a secretary and later became Administrative Assistant at University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, retiring in 2002.  Elaine was a member of Tifereth Israel Congregation and New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home.  She was an avid reader and knitter and enjoyed walking; especially in the Dartmouth Mall and Cape Cod Canal where she met many people, some of whom became lifelong friends.  Elaine was also an accomplished classical pianist.

Dear sister of the late Norman Nevins, cherished aunt of Tammy, Anne, and Scott, and great aunt of Stephanie, Kassandra, and Joshua.

Graveside services were held TUESDAY, March 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Plainville Cemetery, 1400 Old Plainville Rd., New Bedford.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Tifereth Israel Congregation, 145 Brownell Ave., New Bedford, MA 02740 or New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home, 200 Hawthorn St., New Bedford, MA 02740.  Shiva will be private.
