Rotenberg, Leonard A., 97, passed Saturday, July 17, 2021 at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the beloved husband of Ruth (Limer) Rotenberg for 75 years. He was a son of the late Adolph and Jennie (Pepper) Rotenberg, stepson of George Solinger and was a lifelong resident of Providence. He was the owner of Reliable Gold Ltd. in Providence for 58 years, retiring in 2004. Leonard was a graduate of Hope High School, Class of ’43, and attended RI School of Design. He was a WWII Army Veteran, serving in the European Theatre. Leonard was a longtime member of Temple Emanu-El.
Devoted father of Rena Abeles of Providence and Dr. Fred Rotenberg (Sally) of Providence. Dear brother of the late Leo, Joseph and Samuel Rotenberg, Max Lewis, Frieda Furie and Edith Smith. Loving grandfather of Sarah Abeles (Patrick Montané), Jordan Abeles, Benjamin Rotenberg (Juliet), David Rotenberg and Dr. James Rotenberg (Naomi). Cherished great grandfather of Ethan, Noa, Dahlia and Judah.
Funeral services will be held SUNDAY, July 18, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. in Temple Emanu-El, 99 Taft Ave., Providence. To view a live stream of the service, please Click Here.
Shiva will be observed at Laurelmead, 355 Blackstone Blvd., Providence, Sunday 6:30-8 p.m., Monday & Tuesday 2-4 p.m. & 6:30-8 p.m.

Fred , Rena and Family. This was shared with me at a time of loss and I share it forward.
DEATH IS NOTHING
Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Nothing has happened. Everything remains exactly as it was. I am I and you are you, and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak to me in the easy way, which you always used. Put no difference in your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, and pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without an effort without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is an absolute unbroken continuity. What is Death but a negligent accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well .

Bill and I were sorry to hear of the passing of your patriarch, the wonderful gentleman we knew from Reliable Gold. He helped us celebrate many happy occasions, and was always interested in learning about our children’s progress, and shared stories about his own grandchildren, cruising with his family, and life in Providence. What a rich and full life he lived! We send our deepest sympathy for your loss.

I am a former employee at Laurelmead from 2003 – 2018. Mr Rotenberg was one of the best along with Mrs, weekly attendees at My Monday bingo nights and participants at the Poker Nights, along with many off site activities. He will be missed. My he RIP.
