Sanford T. Goldstein

Dateline: Westport

Goldstein, Sanford T.

It is with deep sadness that Sanford T. Goldstein, 95, of Westport, passed away at his home, after a long period of declining health. Born in Dartmouth, son of the late Barney and Rose (Long) Goldstein, he was a lifelong resident of Westport.

He owned Goldstein’s Farm and Lawn Equipment with his late brother, Stanley Goldstein, and their two sons, Brad Goldstein and the late Steven Goldstein. Sanford later owned Goldstein’s Used Cars in Dartmouth with his son, Steven.

Sanford was married to the late Juliet (Sylvia) Goldstein for 30 years, and then was the companion to the late Ruth Groth. He was a member of Temple Beth-El, Ahavath Achim Synagogue, and Massachusetts Farm Bureau Federation.

We will miss him dearly. His spirit and kindness will dwell in our hearts forever. He cherished his family greatly. You could always find him at his car lot talking to people.

He was the brother to the late Reba, Jennie, Hyman, Samuel and Stanley (Ann) Goldstein and the late Shirley Katz. He is survived by his daughter, Bernice Solup; her husband, Stuart; grandchildren, Jessica and Jonathan and his wife, Nicole; and great grandchildren, Henry and Xander.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Plainville Cemetery, 1400 Old Plainville Rd., New Bedford. Shiva will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Temple Beth-El, 385 High St., Fall River, MA 02720.
