Alfred M. Weisberg

Weisberg, Alfred M., 86, died Thursday, May 9, after a long illness. He was the husband of Naida (Deitch) Weisberg for 63 years. He was born and grew up in Providence, a son of the late Mark and Rose (Brie) Weisberg. Mr. Weisberg was a graduate of Harvard University in Chemistry and served in the Navy during WWII. He was the devoted father of David Weisberg and his wife Jing of Warwick, Abby Ribbans and her husband Peter of East Greenwich, and daughter Martha, who predeceased him. He was also the loving grandfather of John and Max Ribbans and Andrew Weisberg. Mr. Weisberg was the owner and ex-president of Technic, Inc. headquartered in Cranston. In addition to his duties at Technic he had served as president of the International Precious Metals Institute and was the official historian of the American Electroplaters and Surface Finishers Society. Music lover, gardener and lifelong collector of jokes, Mr. Weisberg published extensively on the subject of electroplating and had over the years held numerous patents in the field. He had also been a member of the Corporation of the Providence Public Library and Executive Director of the Providence Jewelry Museum. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service for him at 11 am Thursday, Swan Point Cemetery Chapel, Providence.
