Barbara L. Shulkin

Shulkin, Barbara L., 85, died Friday, February 2, 2018 at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center. She was the beloved wife of Irwin Shulkin for 62 years. Born in Lynn, MA, a daughter of the late Michael and Frances (Litvack) Tobin, she was a longtime resident of Cranston and Boynton Beach. She worked as a social worker for the City of Lynn, MA for Department of Elderly Affairs but her most important job was being a full time mother. Barbara was a former member of Temples Torat Yisrael and Sinai. Devoted mother of Lori Lowinger and her husband, Daniel, of Cranston and the late Nancy Shulkin Rabinowitz. Dear sister of the late Richard Tobin. Loving grandmother of Nicholas. Beloved aunt and friend to many. Funeral services will be held Monday at 12:00 noon in SHALOM MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1100 New London Ave., Cranston. In lieu of flowers at Barbara’s request, contributions in her memory may be made to Gotta Have Sole Foundation, PO Box 8379, Cranston, RI 02920. Contributions may also be made to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 N. Main St., Providence, RI 02904. Shiva will be private.

I just saw this on line. I am so sorry to hear of Barbara’s passing. I have wonderful memories of our friendship starting in 1973 on Preston Drive. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. Barbara was a very special friend. We will miss her. She will remain in our hearts forever.
