Shirley Factoroff
Factoroff, Shirley, 95, died Monday, September 5, 2016 at Brentwood Nursing Home surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Allick Factoroff. Born and raised in Bristol, a daughter of the late David and Dora (Rubchinsky) Myerson, she was a lifelong resident of Warwick. She was a payroll clerk for the City of Warwick for 25 years, retiring in 1980. After retirement, she worked at Toys R Us in Warwick for 15 years. Shirley was active in the Warwick Senior Group and loved playing BINGO. She was also an avid volunteer in the Warwick Community. Devoted mother of Nancy DeCosta and her husband, Frank Jr., of Warwick. Dear sister of the late Miriam Hoffman and Betty Gollub. Adored grandmother of Mathew, Sara and Frank III. Cherished great grandmother of Zachary, Nicholas, Kiley, Connor, Cameron and Sydney. Loving aunt to several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in SHALOM MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1100 New London Ave., Cranston. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 N. Main St., Providence, RI 02904. Shiva will be observed at 277 Sleepy Hollow Farm Road, Warwick on Thursday from 6-9 and Friday from 2-4 p.m.

I am so sorry to see of your mom’s passing in the Journal. What a great age to live to though. My mom (Marie Senecal) and she were in Brentwood together before my mom’s passing three years ago. I will always remember what a wonderful family you were and how attentive you all were to Shirley.

All the memories that come flooding to mind and it’s hard to pick one. Remembering her kissing all the girls good night when you had a sleepover. I had just posted a pic (Facebook) she took of my sister and I on the first day of school 1962 with her Polaroid camera. Showing us how she made her “chopped liver” just the best! Such good times and memories that will be with us forever.

Hopefully you will remember me from our childhood days in our Sandy Lane neighborhood….you on Sweetwater Road, me on Haven Street. I was sad to hear of your mother’s passing, but I am glad that she had such a good long life. I remember her very well. As a child, I thought her a kind, gracious, and attractive lady. I am sure the gift of the grandchildren you gave her brought her much joy. I have lost both my parents and my only brother so I understand the feeling of loneliness that comes with the realization that the family you grew up with is gone. Please know that a childhood friend is thinking of you, and of your mom, today. I am very, very sorry for your loss, Nancy.
