Bella Foster

Dateline: Warwick

Foster, Bella passed away after a brief illness at 90 years old.  She was the wife of the late Stanley Foster. They were married for 63 years.  Bella was the sister of the late George Woled, Phillip Woled, Ann Lee and Gertrude Rigsby. Bella was the life long friend of the late Anna Grossman, Mary Palumbo, Linda Romano, Louise Carlin and John Perrino.

Bella was a resident at Tamarisk Assisted Living in Warwick. Prior to moving there, she resided in Edgewood for 48 years. Bella graduated Central High School in 1941. She was a bookkeeper prior to starting a family. Bella was an active member of Temple Torat Yisrael in Cranston, volunteering as well as being a life long member of Hadassah.

Bella was an avid walker, reader, and loved her music. There was always some type of music playing in her home. She was a devoted fan of Luciano Pavorotti, Barbara Streisand and Neil Diamond. Bella’s home was the center of decades of holiday celebrations. It brought her great joy to prepare delicious meals as well as creative yummy desserts. When someone was invited for a meal they never refused her invitation and they always went home with a “goody bag.”

Bella is survived by her son, Harris D. Foster, of Plainsboro, NJ and his daughter, Hannah Ruth Foster, of Schuylerville, NY. Bella “Bubbie” was very proud of her only granddaughter and was gleefully anticipating Hannah’s graduation from Hartwick College this May with a degree in Nursing. Her son Jon Foster resides in Scituate with his wife Dianne Middlemiss, and his son, Ari Foster.

Bella was also blessed to have the Olinsky/Grossman family as part of her family of choice. Bella and Anna Grossman were best “buddies” and when Anna passed, her husband Meyer, daughter Anita, her husband Alan, and their two sons, Benjamin and Rueben, became a constant source of support and love.

Bella loved being at Tamarisk. She was a very active resident and enjoyed Sabbath services, working out, along with watching her favorite television shows and movies.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in Lincoln Park Cemetery, 1469 Post Rd.,Warwick.  Shiva will be observed at Tamarisk, 3 Shalom Dr., Warwick, on Wednesday, 11-4 p.m.

Condolences to Jon and Harris. I was shocked to read about Belle’s passing. It was just weeks ago that I saw her at Tamarisk, pleasant cheerful and concerned about Mary, as always. She was a wonderful neighbor of my mother and continued to be one during their time at Tamarisk.

I just want to say how sorry I am for your loss. To think back that my parents Gerald and Louise carlin have been friends with your mother and father for over 60 years. I always thought that Bella and your father were two of the most wonderful people ever.

I was so sad and sorry to hear of Bella’s passing. Our condolences to you both. I have wonderful memories of visiting at your house growing up, and I know our family was very lucky to have Bella and Stanley in their life, as was I. May their memories forever be a blessing.

My truth is this….Jon Foster had nothing to do with his mother over the last two years, ignored her completely.

Jon & Harris, So sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. I used to take care of her at Emma’s Hair Salon. She was always promising to bring me kniches, if you hadn’t eaten them all. She & your father were really a special couple. She will be in my prayers. Beverly ( Brisson) DeFelice
