Young, Avis, 87, died peacefully Monday, October 20, 2014. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel Young and the loving daughter of the late Frank and Elsie (Kornstein) Swartz. Avis was born in Providence where she lived most of her life until moving to Delray Beach, FL. Avis was a life member of Hadassah and Temple Emanu-El. Devoted mother of Sherri Noon and her husband, David, of Needham, MA and Rhonda Weisberg and her husband, Lee, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Dear sister of Lorie Litsinger and her husband, Richard, of Boca Raton, FL. Loving grandmother of Melissa and her husband, Ian, Matthew, Jillian and her husband, David, Billie and her husband, Cory, and Jody. Cherished great grandmother of Levi, Rachel, and Meirav. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in SHALOM MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1100 New London Ave., Cranston. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 245 Waterman St., Providence, RI 02906. Shiva will be observed at the home of Sherri & David Noon following interment and from 2:30 p.m. until 9 p.m.
