Brandt, Shirley
Cranston
Brandt, Shirley M., 93, passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024, after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late David Brandt for fifty-four years. Born in Providence to the late Joseph and Rose (Less) Wilk, she lived in Cranston for the majority of her life. While raising her family, she worked in various administrative positions, including the Cranston School Department. Later, she and her beloved husband were co-owners of the Beau James Restaurant in Providence. Nothing delighted Shirley more than greeting and kibbutzing with her regular customers on a nightly basis. She was an avid Mah Jong player, lifelong dog lover and dedicated Red Sox and Patriots fan. She is a former member of Temple Beth Torah (Torat Israel) and a current member of Temple Sinai. Along with her late husband David, she was very active in establishing the Rhode Island Holocaust Memorial. She was certainly one in a million and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Loving grandmother of Rachel, Jordan and Ben. Cherished Aunt of Sherry Kriss. Loving and loyal companion to Stella the Pekingese.

Maxine, Karen, and Rich,
I am so so sad to hear about the Big S. She radiated indomitable warmth, energy, and vigor. Along with your dad, Betty, Sherry, the three of you, and your families, she enriched my life and made me a better person. I know her memory will unquestionably be a blessing to the innumerable people lucky enough to have known her. I’m so fortunate to have been one of them. My love to all of you.
Sincere condolences to the family as Shirley was a true and close friend. Have known she and David for many many years and the 4 of us had many good times. Always will remember weekly mah jong for years. Again, I’m so sorry of her passing.
