Irwin S. Levin

DATELINE: CRANSTON Levin, Irwin S., 88, died Sunday, April 26, 2020 at Westview Nursing Home. He was the beloved husband of the late Shirley (Krieger) Levin. Born in Providence, a son of the late Max and Dora (Gittleman) Levin, he had lived in Florida for 18 years, previously living in Warwick, Providence and Pawtucket. He was the owner of the former Macs TV, retiring in 1999. Irwin earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Bryant University.  He was a member of Touro Fraternal Association. DATELINE: DENVILLE, NJ Hodosh, Sylvia, 93, died Friday, April 24, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert J. Hodosh. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late William and Anna (Morgenstern) Zelnicker, she had lived in Whippany, NJ for 6 years, previously living in Lake Worth, FL and West Warwick. Devoted mother of Helene Hodosh-Zaytounian and her husband, Avo, of Denville. Cherished by her 3 grand cats, Sammie, Sadie and Bengal. Melvin Kahn

DATELINE: WARWICK A resident of Warwick for the past six years and formerly of Cranston died peacefully from natural causes at 96 years old. Mel was married to his wife Mae for over 70 years, who predeceased him.   He was the son of William and Esther (Harris) Kahnovsky.  All of his siblings predeceased him including Sydney Kahn, Evelyn Labush, and David Kahnovsky.  He is survived by his sons Ronald Kahn and his wife Pamela, Larry Kahn and his wife Ellen, beloved grandfather of Amy Kahn, Joel Kahn and his wife Carolyn, Seth Kahn and his wife Dana, Aaron Kahn and his wife Rachel, and great grandfather to Lily and Charlie Kahn.  Mae and Mel shared the joys of family, travel, summers by the “pool” and activities in numerous fraternal organizations.  Melvin...

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Maurice and Anita (Schmelz) Namerow, she was a longtime resident of Warwick. She graduated from Sweeney Secretarial School.  Sandra was a legal administrative assistant for 40 years in the Providence area. Dear sister of Lori Pontus of East Providence and the late Leigh Namerow and his surviving wife, Betty, of West Warwick.  Loving aunt of Dani Pontus. Loving friend of Gary Victoria. Myrna Altman

DATELINE: PROVIDENCE Altman, Myrna, 93, died Saturday, April 11, 2020 at Oak Hill Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Leonard Altman. A lifelong resident of Providence, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Horvitz) Marcus. Myrna was a graduate of Hope High School and attended Bryant College. During the early 1950s, Myrna Altman worked for the city of Providence Health Department as a sanitarian, testing public eating establishments dinnerware for unsanitary conditions.  She was later a secretary at Family Service, retiring in 1972. Myrna was a former member of Eastern Star, Overseas Lodge, Temple Emanu-El, and the United Brotherhood Synagogue.
