Sorry to hear of your loss .
Oh…I’m so sorry to hear of Phillis’ passing. I just heard last night from my mom. Phillis’ mom and my Grandma Lily were sisters.
I knew Phillis all my life.
She was always exceptionally kind and loving and caring to me and then to my children. Always seemed honestly interested in our lives and what we thought. When we were together she was always very humble and self-effacing. Her simple nature was for me a great pleasure.
— I haven’t seen her in the past number of years, but I will cherish the pleasant memories I have of her and those times we spent together…especially at my Grandma Lily’s house and on the beach in Narragansett Pier.
It was Sunday afternoon . The entire family was sitting in their defined rows on the beach. All the cousins were getting ready to go ‘ for a dip, not a swim” in the ocean. As I picked up momentum,I. Heard a familiar voice, shouting” and where do you think you are going?’, It was my mother, Reta, keeper of the rules. All the rules.
You know you are not allowed to go swimming until you wait at least four hours after you have eaten. Didn’t you just eat a brisket
Sandwich. Wait until your stomach settles. You can go swimming
When you graduate from medical school
Summer at the beach. Go figure.
Follow up; the brisket was purchased at POLLACKS. I admit their food was delicious, but I am looking forward to getting back into the water.
Phyllis came to my rescue telling my mother she had no sense of time and the four hours had passed .
I did not realize how quickly four hours can pass
Phyllis, I feel terrible I never called you back, but thank you again for the swim and the sandwich
Sam, sorry for your loss.
