Gold, Ruth, 89, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at her home in Warwick with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Herbert Gold for 70 years. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late David and Florence H. (Markel) Mermelstein. She attended West Warwick High School, graduating in 1954. Ruth and Herb set roots in Warwick where they remained for over 65 years.
Ruth was a devoted member of the former Temple Beth Am Sisterhood, she served as one of the first members of Temple Beth Am, after their closing she focused her energies on her family and friends who made it all worthwhile. Ruth was considered a traditional mother and spouse; she was a talented needleworker who found joy in knitting sweaters for her 4 grandchildren.
Devoted mother of Jerry Gold, his wife Bonnie, of Central Falls, Eric Gold of Miami, FL, and Rhonda Cohen, her husband Anthony, of London, England. Dear sister of Hal Mermel of Pembroke Pines, FL and Lea Solomon and her partner Robert Holsten, of Tarpon Springs, FL. Loving grandmother of Rebecca (Adam), Emily (Ian), Rachel (Paul) and Sarah (Adam). Cherished great grandmother of 9.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Priest Chapel in Lincoln Park Cemetery, 1469 Post Road, Warwick, RI 02888. Shiva will be observed in private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island, 401 Elmgrove Avenue, Providence, RI 02906 or the Sandra Bornstein Holocaust Education Center, 401 Elmgrove Avenue, Providence, RI 02906.
