East Providence

Redlich, Anita, 90, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Tockwotton on the Waterfront. She was the beloved wife of the late Leonard Redlich. Born in Bronx, NY, the daughter of the late Albert and Anita (Berman) Friedman. She lived in East Providence the last 3 years, although she considered Newport her home, where she resided for 42 years.

Anita had an MSW and was a mental health counselor with her own practice, Prevention Counseling Services, in Newport and East Providence for over 30 years, retiring in 2013. She was a founding member of Women’s Resource Center of Newport, RI and was a volunteer for Reading is Fundamental. Anita was always ready to help those in need. She was also an avid reader and loved writing poetry, short stories, and personal journaling.

Devoted mother of Ried Redlich (Mindy) of Cumberland, RI, Debbie Spitz (Eran) of Cincinnati, OH, Michelle Wasserman (Jeff) of Wilmington, DE, and Seth Redlich of Columbia. Exceptional mother-in-law to Leonard Katzman and Kathy Redlich both of Portsmouth, RI. Loving grandmother of Adam Wasserman (Stephanie), Robin Miller (Trevor), Andrew Katzman, Sarah Shore (Jason), Alex Slattery (Dalton), Alysa Shtaynberger (Jonathan) and Colin Redlich. Cherished great grandmother of Danielle and Jeremy Wasserman, Lukas and Hannah Miller, and Hannah and Emma Shtaynberger. Aside from her husband and parents, Anita is predeceased by her daughter, Jhodi Redlich.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in SHALOM MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1100 New London Ave., Cranston. Shiva will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of your choice.

    She will always remain in our hearts as an exceptional cousin and person who always welcomed us with open arms and us knowing we were part of her extended family ….
    She might not be with us anymore, but forever in our hearts and spirit.

    To the Redlich family,
    I want to send my condolences to all of you. I know firsthand, what a special and loving woman Aunt Anita was. All the eulogies were beautiful! I will always remember her warm, caring and welcoming smile and personality.

    Sorry for your loss. I spent family occasions at the Malbone house in the late 70s to early 80s. We were so young then; hard to believe decades have passed. I wasn’t physically able to attend the service in person.
