Obituary for Muriel Simon

Muriel Simon passed away peacefully on December 14, 2023 at Trustbridge Hospice in Boca Raton, FL. She was 95 years old. She was married to the love of her life Harold Simon from 1953 until his passing in 1984. She and Harold were the parents of three daughters: Marsha Ellen Miller of Coral Springs, FL who passed away just 16days before her mother – Marsha was married to Joseph Miller; Susan Robin Steinberg of Stoughton, MA; married to Eric Steinberg; and Laurie Beth Simon of Merrimack, NH; married to David Warren. Muriel adored all her grandchildren and her great grand-daughter: Andrew Miller of Naples, FL (married to Megan); Hali Miller of Wellington, FL; Rachel Steinberg of Seattle, WA; Daniel Steinberg of New London, CT; Anya Warren of Merrimack, NH; and great-granddaughter Madelyn Miller of Naples, FL.Muriel spent her childhood in Coney Island and the Bronx, NY. After she and Harold wed they lived on Long Island and in 1970 moved their family to Sharon, MA. In 1997 Muriel moved to Kings Point in Tamarac, FL where she enjoyed a wonderful and engaging social life, surrounded by many friends and local family. In December of 2022 she moved to Lenox on the Lake Assisted Living Facility in Lauderhill, FL where she formed many new friendships among residents and staff.

Muriel loved to travel and during her lifetime she realized her dreams of walking on the Great Wall of China, going on an African Safari, and cruising the waters of Alaska, among other wonderful adventures that she enjoyed with friends and family.

Muriel loved to read, was never without her Kindle or a book in hand. She was a prolific writer of beautiful prose and poetry, often auto-biographical. With this, she leaves a beautiful legacy for all who loved her.

As the great-granddaughter of Mordechai and Rive Nozick of Osevetz Russia circa 19th century, Muriel was so very proud to be one of the original members of the Loyal Family Circle, Inc (LFC), an organization formed in 1929 when she was only one year old. Her father, Max Terry was the first President of the LFC, which remains an active organization today and includes thousands of Muriel’s cousins.

Above all, Muriel deeply treasured and was proud of her family, including her closest “official” relatives and those who she considered family by “choice and love” including Paula Gagnon, Margarita Contreras and Hector Brachos.

Until the last day of her life at the age of 95 Muriel continued to impress everyone she met with her razor sharp mind. She was always a woman with a plan to keep moving, learning, growing and loving.

Muriel will be laid to rest on Friday December 22, 2023 at 12:00 noon at a graveside service at Lincoln Park
