Rabin, Rena, 95, died Sunday, August 27, 2023, at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Rich Creek, VA. She was the beloved mother of Alane, Larry, Dennis, Joyce and Andrew. Born in New York City, NY, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Anna (Caminear) Rabin, she lived in NY for thirty-two years, in New Jersey for thirty-two years, moved to Rhode Island for ten years, and then settling in Virginia twenty-one years ago. She was a homemaker while her children were at home, then when her youngest started school she worked for four years at the family business, Bills Village Florist in Boonton, NJ. Rena was fully dedicated to her children, her home and her crafts. She was a prolific knitter, crocheter, seamstress and artist. When she wasn’t crafting and creating, she was reading, or watching her favorite shows.
Devoted mother and mother-in-law of Alane Homer and her husband Geoff Walsh, of Blacksburg, VA, Larry Goldenberg, of Hyannis Port, MA, Dennis Goldenberg and his wife Phyllis, of Hackettstown, NJ, Joyce Goldenberg and her husband Jeff Feakes, of Columbia, SC and Andrew Goldenberg and his wife Bridget, of Willimantic, CT. Dear sister of the late Marion Chorney. Loving grandmother of Michelle Homer, Stephanie Homer, Sarah Kennedy, Lisa Roberts, Brian Goldenberg, Stephen Goldenberg, and Daniel DeMartino. Cherished great-grandmother of Sophie, Colin, Lily, Violet, Bentley, Grayson, Sydney and Peyton.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 31, at 1:00 p.m. in SHALOM MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1100 New London Ave., Cranston, RI. Shiva will be observed in private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741, or American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
