Webber, Jeffrey M.
Jeffrey M. Webber, 69, died suddenly on Tuesday, December 27, 2022. He was the devoted son of Lorraine Webber of Tarrytown, NY, and the late Harold Webber, brother of David Webber and his wife, Karen Jenkins, of Dobbs Ferry, NY, and uncle of Althea Webber, and her husband, Michael Gruen, of Manhattan, and Jeremy Webber, and his wife, Jean Bingham, of New Orleans. The cause of death was cardiac arrest.
Born in Providence, RI, Jeff was a graduate of Classical High School, Kalamazoo College, and Boston College, where he earned an MBA degree. His long career as a financial and systems analyst took him to Ford Motor Company, Barnes and Noble, and IBM. He moved to Ardsley-on-Hudson, NY, in 2000.
Jeff will be remembered by many for his empathetic nature, embodied from childhood on in an unfeigned willingness to listen to others. He loved chess and card games, Cape Cod and the Rhode Island shoreline, and frequent visits to his parents for long talks and favorite dishes from his mother’s kitchen. After retiring in 2015, Jeff enjoyed researching family history, serving as treasurer of his building’s coop board, and competing in online bridge tournaments, for which he became a sought-after partner. He derived a particular satisfaction from teaching English to young Israelis, both online and in person during annual stays in that country. At the time of his death, he was planning his next teaching visit.
Graveside services will be held at Lincoln Park Cemetery in Warwick, RI, on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
