Diner, Robert M., 88, died Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at home, surrounded by family. He was the beloved husband of the late Blanche J. (Pauline) Diner. Born in Brooklyn, NY, a son of the late Abraham and Anna (Miller) Diner, he had lived in Chepachet since January, previously living in Johnston. He was a firefighter for Providence, retiring 42 years ago. Robert was a Korean Conflict Air Force veteran, serving stateside. He was a member of the Sampson Airforce Base Veterans Association He also sat on the board of the Greater Providence Hebrew Free Loan, formerly serving as its Vice President.Devoted father of James Ponte and his wife, Theresa, of Chepachet, Richard Ponte and his wife, Kathleen, of Arden, NC, Michael Diner and his wife, Pamela, of Johnston, Susan Harris and her husband, Todd, of Johnston, and the late Donna Howcroft, Robert Ponte, John Ponte, and Neil Diner. Dear brother of Harriet Levi of Portland, ME, Arlene Hoyle of Coventry, RI, and the late Frances Licker. Loving grandfather of 18. Cherished great grandfather of 15. Adored great great grandfather of 3.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Beacon Hospice, 1 Catamore Blvd., East Providence, RI 02914. Shiva will be private. Funeral service will be held via zoom on Thursday at 11:00 a.m.
