Florence L. Katz
Katz, Florence L., 96, died Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Morris Katz. Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Isaac and Rose (Lefkowitz) Lipman, she had lived in Westport for 10 years, previously living in New Bedford. She owned Morris Motors and Morris Auto Supplies with her husband, retiring in 1980. Florence was a member of Tifereth Israel, Jewish Federation, Order of the Eastern Star and volunteered for the Disaster Committee for the Red Cross. Devoted mother of Frederic Katz of Needham, Louise Katz of New Bedford, Howard Katz and his wife, Donna, of Fairhaven, Carol Katz of Westport and the late Andrew Katz. Dear sister of the late Samuel Lipman, Eva Meyer, Ida Lipman, Kate Hurwitz and Gertrude Nevins. Loving grandmother of Joshua, Adam, Jeremiah, Jocelyn, Deb, Jeff, Erica, and Rose. Cherished great grandmother of Gus, Norbu and Olivia. Graveside services will be held Friday at 3:00 p.m. in Plainville Cemetery, Old Plainville Rd., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Ziskind School Fund, c/o Tifereth Israel, 145 Brownell Ave., New Bedford, MA 02740. Shiva will be private.
