Steve was the devoted father of Evan Matzner and his wife, Ariella, of New York and Shayna Matzner of New York. Born in Providence, a son of the late Henry and Lena (Chafez) Matzner, he was a longtime resident of Cranston. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from RI College. Steve was a Special Education teacher for Cranston West for over 35 years. He was also an excellent tennis coach at Cranston West, Lasalle and Prout for 25 years. DATELINE: WARWICK Krasner, Harold, 95, died Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Brentwood Nursing. He was the beloved husband of Claire (Gornstein) Krasner, his college sweetheart, for 70 years. Born in Providence, a son of the late Jacob and Lillian (Siebel) Krasner, he had lived in Warwick for two years, previously living in Cranston. Harold was born in Providence and became Bar Mitzvah at Touro Synagogue in Newport, graduating Rogers High School there. His education was interrupted by World War II, where he served in the Merchant Marine. He returned to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering at Rhode Island State College, later to become the University of Rhode Island.
