DATELINE: Warwick Hirsch, Ruth E., 92, died Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Tamarisk. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Winegust) Greene, she had lived in Warwick for 28 years, previously living in Providence. Dear sister of the late Leo and Julian Greene.  Cherished aunt of James, Maureen, and Bernice Greene and the late Nadine Greene.  Graveside services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in LINCOLN PARK CEMETERY, 1469 Post Rd., Warwick.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to your favorite charity.  Shiva will be private.

Jennie D. Habib

DATELINE: Westport, MA Habib, Jennie D., 98, died Monday, December 29, 2014 at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home.  She was the beloved wife of the late Samuel Habib. Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Hyman and Florence (Shalit) Goodman, she had lived in Westport, Deerfield Beach, and Bourne.  Jennie was the co-owner of Jay-Dee’s, a family clothing store, in Buzzards Bay for over 25 years, retiring in 1974.  She was a member of the former Ahavath Achim Synagogue for many years and was a member of the former Devorah.  While living in Deerfield Beach, FL, she was a member of the National Council of Jewish Women and its Rehabilitation Chapter. DATELINE: Smithfield Weir, Judith S., 57, died Friday, December 26, 2014 at RI Hospital.  She was the beloved wife of the late Terrence Weir. Edward Bender

DATELINE: Saunderstown Bender, Edward, 100, died peacefully Thursday Dec. 18, 2014, at Scallop Shell Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, South Kingstown. He was the beloved husband of the late Baila (Polofsky) Bender. Born November 23rd, 1914, Pittsburgh, PA, a son of the late Harry and Sadie (Ageloff) Bender, he had lived in Saunderstown since 2007, previously residing in Cranston. Edward and Baila were founding members of Temple Sinai and the Sinai Seniors. They were honored as “Jewish Family of the Year”, 1999. He was a volunteer at Miriam Hospital for over 10 years. Joan E. Goldstein

DATELINE: Cranston Goldstein, Joan E. (Efros), 84, of Cranston passed away on December 9th. She was the wife of Gerald S. Goldstein for 66 years, and the mother of Jill Allyn. Private funeral services and shiva were held by her family. Joan was a gentle person.  She was a loving, devoted wife and mother.  She was an outstanding cook.  She was an avid bridge player and reader. In her early years she was employed by Sterling Shoes. She worked at Peoples Bank. She was a hospital volunteer for many years. Joan was the original bookkeeper for Kent/Town & Country Cleansers, the family businesses, and retired as Vice-President. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
