Norman I. Levin
Levin, Norman I., 80, of Warwick, died Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at West Shore Health Center. He was the beloved husband of Sylvia (Indyk) Levin for 54 years. Born in Providence, a son of the late Charles and Mildred (Aptel) Levin, he had lived in Warwick for 53 years. Norman was a quality assurance engineer for American Insulated Wire for 39 years and, later, was a fire inspector, retiring 18 years ago. He was a Korean Conflict Navy veteran serving in the Pacific Theater. Norman was a special officer for the Warwick Police Department for 20 years and was a fire chief for the Oaklawn Volunteer Fire Department. He was a former member of Temple Am David. Devoted father of Harvey Levin and his wife Karen of Saunderstown, Cheryl Glick and her husband Stanley of Cranston and Mitchell Levin and his wife Susan of Warwick. Loving grandfather of Kyle, Kathryn, Meredith, Rebecca, Collin and Christopher. Funeral services will be held Friday (TODAY), at 10:30 a.m. in SHALOM MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1100 New London Avenue, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association or your favorite charity. Shiva will be observed at the home of Cheryl and Stanley Glick, 29 Brookview Drive, Cranston, Sunday and Monday, 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The family would like to thank the entire staff of West Shore Health Center and Fresenius Dialysis Center on Post Road for their kindness over the past few years.

So sorry for your loss
My sincerest condolences to Sylvia and the family for the loss of a great guy. Decades have passed since the Warwick Police had a great Police Reserve (which is lacking today ) and I remember all the evenings as a young officer when reserves rode with us regulars and Norm and I became friends over those years and I always found him to be a dedicated guy and one you could count on.Led by Chris Feeney and he they were always ready to step in and assist in any city crisis albeit a hurricane, blizzard , or a plain old street brawl. Truly a kind, gentle, and giving man I always remembered our nights and cruising around together, and I shall remember Norm and his family in my thoughts and prayers. This world lost a good one this week. Rest in peace old Friend until we go on Patrol together again.
I am sorry to read of Mr. Levin passing. May God be with the family during this difficult time. Take courage in God’s heartwarming promise soon to come about for our loved ones who have passed away found in the Holy Scriptures at Job 14:14, 15. This promise of a resurrection is consoling.
