Alfred was an amazing person and always had a smile. He was my grandfather’s best friend and I can remember when we used to all go sailing together.

I’m glad I was able to know Alfred and my grandfather Jim and I will surely be missing him.

    Dear Janet,

I just found out today that your husband had passed away on Aug 4th. Had I known then I would have come to the Chapel to see you? I’m so very sorry. I know we were friends from a distance thru the years but still I felt like the whole family was a part of my life having gone down different paths. No, I wasn’t there for certain celebrations which kept me from knowing all of you better, however I feel you understood why. Even tho we haven’t communicated since the last funeral please accept my feelings of sorrow for you and Tara. Death is truly an Enemy as described in the bible, because it robs us of our loved ones, and in your case a Husband and a Father. I felt the lost of husbands in a different way. No matter how they leave us it hurts. It hurts more when you see them going thru their illness, when you are care for them day to day, because you wish you could make it go away. Time is also an enemy and a friend. In this case it will be a friend to you at some point.

Grief is different for every one. TIME helps a person to cope. In Death I feel there are no closures. Its been 18 years since my mom died and 13 years for my dad. I still cry, every week. How can you not when you lose something that has been your life? Time does help tho. I found that acknowledging my feeling, not dwelling on them, acknowledge them is great. Cry when you want cause you were husband and wife. Feel you’re feeling whenever. You might do this thu out the many years that go by because you were a family. You shared many ups and downs, laughed and had a daughter. There is no closure just the ability too cope and go on. I hope I haven’t over stepped any boundaries, however this is what has helped me and I wanted to share it with you. I really wish I could have at the chapel to talk to you.
Please let me know if there are any other changes in the family in the future. My e-mail is listed. Call if you would like to talk.

I’m so sorry. Your in my thoughts and prayers.
