Cohen, Florence

Florence Mary Cohen, 96, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Clarendale at Bellevue Place in Nashville, TN.  Born in Providence, RI on April 13, 1926, the daughter of the late Barney and Annie (Weiser) Seltzer, she was the beloved wife of the late Max Cohen. One of the last of the Greatest Generation, born before the Depression and coming of age during World War II, she was predeceased by her siblings Ruth Davis, Benjamin Seltzer, Claire Winkleman, and Lillian Kessler. She had lived in Warwick for over 35 years, previously living in Cranston.

Florence was a dedicated homemaker and mother, later working at Roger Williams Hospital for 28 years, then in the office of Dr. Munawar Azam for 12 years, retiring in 2007. Devoted mother of Carol Soren (Howard Kohnstamm) of Nashville, TN, Ron (Madeline) Cohen of Reston, VA, and Deb (Phil) Tirrell of Riverside, RI.  Loving grandmother of Marc (Tina), Jeffrey (Marcela), Natalie (Robert), Rachael (Adam), Justin, Lee (Anne), and Zachary (Rachel). Cherished great-grandmother of Peyton, Zoe, Max, Ari, Ayela, and Akiva. Treasured great-great-grandmother of Greyson.

Funeral services were held in private, with a Memorial Service details will be held at Shalom Memorial Chapel in Cranston, RI on Sunday, October 23, 2022, 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to your favorite charity.  Shiva is private.
