Deepest sympathies, Ronnie, to you and your family. David was quite the individual, there for his family and close Mel, Mary, Sister (Ellen) and Cookie (Carol).
I knew David from the old Warrington Street days, back to 1954. From street hockey, to schoolyard football, baseball, basketball, tennis and even some soccer, we played most of it in the Sackett Street schoolyard. May his memory bring you and your family blessings and peace.

Carol, Ronnie and Henri Martin. This was shared with me at a time of loss and I share it forward. Namaste
    DEATH IS NOTHING
Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Nothing has happened. Everything remains exactly as it was. I am I and you are you, and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak to me in the easy way, which you always used. Put no difference in your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, and pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without an effort without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is an absolute unbroken continuity. What is Death but a negligent accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well .

My deepest condolences to the Engle family. I grew up with David in the 50’s and 60’s and we attended school together. Although I haven’t seen him in decades, I still remember his great sense of humor and kindness to others. RIP, David.

Each time we pass the bench under the Towers in Narragansett we will think of David sitting there, chatting with passersby and just being content in the world. What a lovely man, husband, and father he was. We will miss him. Our thoughts are with you all.- Sally, Fred and the Rotenberg boys

So sorry for your families loss. Many times I’d see David at the tire store when we used them for our business. Much too young to leave everyone. God Bless.

Sincere condolences to the Engle family. Met David around 15 years ago thru mutual friends. Dave had friends here, there and everywhere, no question about that. Will truly miss the trips to Sonias, the butcher shop, Sam’s, the Red Wing Diner, Lou Umberto’s and the Old Canteen, to name just a few. Dave wintered in Florida, summered in Rhode Island. He enjoyed life on a daily basis immensely. Dave loved his trips to New York and Maine with his wife and when she came down to Florida for a 3 or 4 day vacation. Dave was very proud of Henri, loved him dearly. In closing, Plainridge will never be the same, Dave was the Chairman of the Board, everyone stopped by his desk area to chat. Dave taught me a lot in life, only wish he was still here to teach me more. Rest In Peace my dear friend.

I was fortunate enough to have met David multiple times while hanging out with Henri and it was so clear how much he loved and cared for his son and family. He was a warm, funny, friendly man and even though I knew him for a short period of time, I feel his loss tremendously. I’m sure this feeling is even more difficult for those who knew him better. May his memory be a blessing and please reach out if you need support in this difficult time.
