Marvin L. Granoff

Granoff, Marvin L., 87, of Merrymount Drive, Warwick, died August 27, 2013, at Philip Hulitar Hospice.  He was the beloved husband of Molly (Kadsivitz) Granoff, for 62 years.

He was the loving father of two sets of twins: Charles Granoff of Newton, MA, and Rick Granoff (Marcy Granoff) of Cranston, Faye (Granoff) Stolzman (Robert I. Stolzman) and Dr. Sara Granoff-Schor (Dr. Charlie Schor) of Providence.  He will be forever remembered by his four grandchildren: Jonathan and Jamie Granoff of NY, Nora Stolzman and Jenna Schor of Providence.  Marvin is also survived by his sister Evelyn Hornstein (Abner Hornstein).  He leaves many nieces and nephews.

Born December 10, 1925, he was the son of the late Jacob and Fay (Kadish) Granoff.  He grew up in Providence and served in the navy during WW-II as a 20mm Gunner on a merchant ship, the William Windon, and a tanker, the Fort George.

Marvin was one of the founders of the Swiss Automatic Screw Machine Company, in Providence. He then created Eastern Wire Products Company, one of the country’s largest wire display fabricators.

Marvin loved spending time in Narragansett and Palm Beach.  His greatest joy was being surrounded by his children and grandchildren.  He was a member of Temple Beth-El and was known for being a loyal and generous friend and a kind, fair-minded mentor who enjoyed being anonymously chartable.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in Temple Beth-El, 70 Orchard Ave., Providence.

Shiva will be observed at 183 George St., Providence, Thurs. 7-9 and Fri. 2-6 p.m.
