Lois was one of a kind yet a perfect example of the Jewish suburban wife and mother and educator. Her sense of humor was unparalleled and her capacity for love was infinite. Always ready with a smart quip and a smile, I will remember her fondly. ❤️

Lois was always a delight to be with. I met her at BOLLI and worked with her as part of the group that created LLAIC. Lois was (so difficult to say “was”) warm, practical, friendly, with always a kind word and a good idea. I missed her and Irwin when they moved to RI and were not as present as they had been.

Irwin, my deepest condolences to you and your family

I’ve always had a secret desire to be part of the Silver family. I have always been moved by the unconditional love and closeness you share. You wouldn’t be such a model family if it weren’t for Lois. I know your memories of her will be a blessing.

Lois was a kind person and a pleasure to work with. When BOLLI started up, we needed volunteers — Lois was always the first to raise her hand. I missed her when she and Irwin moved to Rhode Island

Irwin, both Paula and I are sadden to learn of your loss. Your words this morning showed the devotion you both had for each other, it brought tears to my eyes. Being a Worcester girl and having gone to Hebrew school with her brother at B I, through the years gone by we knew each other especially when we visited Aunt Charlotte across the street from your house. She was always there, with a big mile and pleasantness that our words cannot describe. She will be dearly missed.

Lois had been a dear friend and mentor to me. She was my guide as I joined the faculty at Maimonides, a coach as I tried to fill her position as a fourth grade teacher and then as the vice principal. I could not have wanted a better guide and friend there. She was always warm and welcoming to everyone and I will long remember her. I was fortunate to have known her for many years.
Irwin, my deepest condolences to you and your family.

I first met Lois in 1981 when I began teaching at Maimonides. I taught kindergarten, which was in a separate building around the corner. She was teaching 4th grade. At lunch time I would walk over to the “main building.” All of the other elementary school teachers knew each other, I was the new kid and the outsider. Lois was welcoming and made me feel part of the faculty.

Our relationship continued throughout our four children’s school careers until her retirement. Lois was an intuitive, open-minded, and kind person and educator. It seemed to me that she knew every child in the school. But she didn’t just know their names, she knew them.

I have one story to share, that I don’t think I ever told Lois. One of our sons worked at Fenway Park for a few summers. He worked in the 600 Club, which was the luxury seating and dining room. He often would come home and casually mention that he served a famous person. It was just in passing, he would never seem impressed…but our other children were! One evening he returned home after the game. He was very excited. “Guess who I saw at the 600 Club tonight,” he gushed. “Mrs. Silver!” The movie, TV, and rock starts were ok…but Mrs. Silver, she was someone to get excited about.

I speak for my husband, Lenny, and I’m sure our now adult “children, in offering you our deepest condolences.

    Most sincerely,
    Suzi Fuld
