Irving A. Troob
DATELINE: VERO BEACH, FL
Troob, Irving A., 97, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at home. He was the beloved husband of Sheila (Cohen) Troob for 71 years. Born in Providence, son of the late Hyman and Ida (Gordon) Troob, he lived in Vero Beach, FL for 21 years, previously residing in Warwick, RI for 20 years and Rehoboth, MA for 30 years. He was a jewelry maker at Little Folks Jewelry Co. in Providence for 15 years and co-owner and CEO of Supreme Manufacturing Co. in Pawtucket, retiring in 1985.
Irving was a WWII Army veteran, serving as a 5th Grade Technician in the 96th Signal Battalion in Northern Africa, Italy, India, Burma, and China.
Irving was a member of Temple Beth-El, Temple Beth Shalom and the Overseas Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of Quidnessett, Ledgemont and Grand Harbor Country Clubs and the Indian River Trap and Skeet Club. Irving sailed aboard his 34 ft. Cris Craft named “How Jolly” and was a pilot of a Cessna Skylane. He enjoyed oil painting and was an avid reader and motorcycle rider. When he was not traveling, Irving raised a variety of livestock including peacocks, pheasants, Suffolk and Columbia sheep, Hereford cows, pygmy goats, horses, pigs and Vizslas.
Devoted father of Dr. Howard Troob (Patricia) of Wakefield, RI and Jolie Shushansky (Larry) of Lincoln, RI. Dear brother of the late Joyce Gloria Rogers. Loving grandfather of Renan Ozturk, Nathan and Ilana Shushansky, and Marc, Scott, Eric and Joshua Troob. Cherished great grandfather of Amelia and Annie Shushansky and Emery Troob. Adored uncle of Suzan Beardsley (Daniel) of Cranston, RI.
Funeral services and shiva will be private due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Graveside services will be live streamed. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to VNA & Hospice Foundation of Vero Beach, 920 37th Place, Ste. 101, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

Dear Sheila, Jolie, Howard and family,
My deepest condolences on Irv’s passing. He was a remarkable man who I admired. Our families go back a long, long way. Irv told me a few years ago when I was visiting in Florida how he met my father. When they were both little boys at the shul in South Providence, my grandmother invited Irv’s mother to sit up front with her and the other ladies. They became good friends and the families remained close for decades. Irv and my dad were the closest of friends. After my dad passed away, I enjoyed brief visits in Florida with Irv and Sheila. May you be comforted by your good memories.

Even though the news of Irving’ s passing was anticipated it still felt like a terrible blow. I shall always hold his memory dear and miss him deeply. He and Sheila have always made me feel a part of the family. My sincere sympathies to all of you.
Irving and my late husband, Walter were best of friends. They met in an art class at VBMA and painted together for the next 2o years.
Both were members of the ROMEOS (Retired Old Men Eating Out)
and had many laughs together…especially the story of the llamas.
Rest in Peace Irving. I am sending hugs and prayers to Sheila and to the Troob family with love.
Dear Sheila, Jolie, Howard & Family,
As I know too well, it is never easy to say goodbye to those we love, and although Cousin Irving was blessed to share his life with all of you for so many years, sometimes it’s just not enough.
Though we had not spoken for many years, my conversation with him a few years back will always be cherished. Sheila, I recall how he said he felt so fortunate, even amazed, that he was able to attract you into his life. His love for you rang clear as a bell as we talked that day. Jolie, Howard, spouses and family, you are all so fortunate to have so many precious memories together.
May you all find comfort in knowing Cousin Irving’s life was a full and happy one. May he rest in peace.
We have lost a dear friend but the loving memories will go on forever. Irving and Sheila shared wonderful stories of their family and many life adventures when we got together for dinners over the years. Sheila, you know we love you and will see you when you return to Vero next week. Looking forward to getting together soon. Love, Barbara & Stan

Dear Sheila and Jolie and all family members,
The four years I spent living at 10 Summer Street in Rehoboth were great. The Troobs were wonderful landlords. Irving was always there to make sure everything was OK. We didn’t even mind those beautiful peacocks who would screech if anyone of us came home late!! Irving had a great sense of humor and it was evident that he really cared for family and friends (and all his animals).
