Marcia L. Kaplan

Kaplan, Marcia L., 81, died October 17, 2019 at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Harold Kaplan for 58 years. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Bernard and Zelda (Sklut) Hittner, she was a lifelong resident of Cranston. She was an administrator for Rhode Island Hospital Dept. of Psychiatry for 20 years, retiring in 1999. Marcia was a graduate of Cranston East High School, Class of ’56, and University of RI, Class of ’60.  She was a member of the former Temple Beth Israel and its sisterhood and bowling league.  She was an active member and officer of the PTA in Hugh B. Bain Middle School and Stadium Elementary School.  Marcia was also the Vice President of the Residence Council at Cedar Crest Home.

Devoted mother of William D. Kaplan of Cranston, Gary B. Kaplan of Los Angeles, CA and Edward S. Kaplan of Silver Springs, MD. Dear sister of Kenneth Hittner (Reneé) of Brookfield, CT. Loving grandmother of Sarah L. Kaplan of Riverside and Andrew S. Kaplan of Cranston. Cherished great grandmother of Xyler Kaplan.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 18th at 10:00 a.m. in SHALOM MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1100 New London Ave., Cranston. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to ALS Foundation, 2374 Post Road, Ste. 103, Warwick, RI 02886.  Shiva will be private.

    Harry, Billy, Gary, Eddy, Kenny and family,
    We are very sorry to hear of Marcia’s passing. She was a wonderful person. Unfortunately the funeral had already started when we found out about it, we would have been there. Our very deepest condolences during this very sad time.
