Leon was a true mensch. He sponsored me at Touro Fraternal, which I greatly appreciated. He will be missed at Chabad Shabbat minyan, especially his laughter, jokes and his twinkling eyes. May his memory be for a blessing.

My condolences to Leon’s family. Leon shared many war stories with my father, Ed Wasser ( 307th Engineers, 82nd Airborne Division ). Leon was very helpful when he picked my father up for many Touro meetings.
    Thank you Leon.

Leon had a mature mind in action!
He had an appetite for good food,
being called to the Torah and good conversation.

I would listen to Leon’s jokes
with Jewish twists that made you think.

Leon husky voice marked him as a mensch
with insight of what’s going on in the world.

    Jerri,

I am truly sorry for the loss of your Dad. I remember the days that he and your Mom would come to our house and be the “life of the party”. Your Dad optimized “mensch”.

    Jerri and Harold and Family,

I am very sorry for your loss. He will be missed by many. When accompanying Leon for dinner at restaurants, stores, Touro Fraternal, there always was a friend and/or relative to greet and share a story. Everyone benefited from his humor. As Leon would say “you have to laugh” and many other wise sayings to live by. I will miss visits to his home just to pass an hour or so in conversation, his good advice, his fatherly concern.

Although I don’t know the Resnick family, I remember Mr Resnick from his days delivering fruit & vegetables to my grandparents in Providence during the 60’s. They relied on his visits as neither one ever drove. We often mention his litany of offerings where he would insert the name after every 3 items, “apples, oranges bananas, Mrs Kraus?” It is part of our family folklore.
    Sincerest sympathy to his family.

On June 4, 2016 I was so proud to be Leon’s guardian on his Honor Flight trip to Washington DC.
On the plane, in the bus and visiting the many memorials, we shared a very special day. I often think of Leon’s great sense of humor and have kept in touch especially on his birthday and Veterans Day. Leon, this may be my last Veterans Day contact, but as you always said “it was one of the best days of my life” and I will always share that memory.
