Melvin “Marty” Kaufman

Kaufman, Melvin “Marty”, 89, died Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center.  He was the beloved husband of Francine (Blank) Kaufman for 65 years.  Born in Providence, a son of the late Morris and Gertrude (Broomfield) Kaufman, he was a longtime resident of Cranston, previously living in Warwick.  He was the owner of Allen’s Furniture in North Kingston for 40 years, retiring in 1990.  Marty was a Korean Conflict Army veteran, serving in stateside.  He was a former member of Temple Torat Yisrael and Touro Fraternal Association. Devoted father of Neil Kaufman of Cranston and Cindy Morrill and her husband, Richard, of Virginia Beach, VA.  Dear brother of the late Florence Cohen, Evelyn Goldberg, Sadie Shanfield, Frances Rodinsky, Selma Dubey, John Kaufman and Leo Kaufman.  Loving grandfather of Eric Morrill and Rachael Morris. Adored great grandfather of Luke Morris. Cherished uncle to several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held WEDNESDAY at 12:00 noon in SHALOM MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1100 New London Ave., Cranston.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 245 Waterman St., Providence, RI 02906, American Cancer Society, 931 Jefferson Blvd, Ste. 3004, Warwick, RI 02886, or American Heart Association, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241.  Shiva will be observed at 200 Hoffman Avenue, #101, Cranston on Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 p.m.
