Ezra M. Schneider

DATELINE: HARRISBURG, PA

Schneider, Ezra M., 67, died Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Community Osteopathic Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Karen (Brown) Schneider for 44 years. Born in Trenton, NJ, a son of the late Irving and Esther (Cohen) Schneider, he grew up in Roosevelt, NJ and lived in Harrisburg for 2 years, previously living in Gaithersburg, MD for 34 years and Providence for 10 years. He was a manager for Westat Inc. in Rockville, MD for 24 years, retiring in 2015. Ezra was a graduate of Rhode Island College, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Arts Education, Class of ’74 and his Master’s Degree in Education/Instructional Technology, Class of ’78. He was a member of B’nai Shalom of Olney in Olney, MD and Beth-El Temple of Harrisburg, PA. Devoted father of Ira Schneider and his wife, Vicki, of York, PA and Hal Schneider and his wife, Liliana, of Belchertown, MA. Dear brother of Libby DeLuca and her late husband, Nicola, of Moorestown, NJ. Loving grandfather of Caleb, Levi, Miles, Aliya and Eli.  Funeral services will be held Thursday at 12 noon in Shalom Memorial Chapel, 1100 New London Ave., Cranston, RI. Burial will follow at Lincoln Park Cemetery, 1469 Post Road, Warwick, RI. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to The American Heart Association, B’nai Shalom of Olney Louis and Miriam Brown Endowment Fund, 18401 Burtfield Drive, Olney, MD 20832 or Beth El Temple, 2637 North Front Street, Harrisburg, PA 17110.  Shiva will be observed at his late residence, 3900 Tim Tam Drive, Harrisburg, PA on Friday 1-4, Sunday – Tuesday 1-4 & 7-9 and Wednesday 1-4 p.m.

    Karen,Ira,Hal…… I can’t begin to tell you how sorry I feel for Ezra’s passing….He will always be remembered as one of my trusted friends. Rest in peace my friend.

    It was indeed a pleasure to have known Ezra at Westat. He was a fair and kind gentleman. He was already missed when he retired in 2015, and now will be missed more than ever.
