Shapiro, Shirley, 85, died Saturday, March 3, 2018 at RI Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Stanley Tolchinsky and Harold Shapiro, and longtime companion of Stanley “Babe” Greenstein of Warwick. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Ben and Gertrude (Gershovitz) Snyder, she had lived in Warwick for 24 years, previously living in Cranston. She was a secretary for the ACI for 10 years, retiring in 2012. Shirley was a member of Temple Beth-El. She enjoyed attending Touro Fraternal Association events and travelling. Devoted mother of Jon Tolchinsky and his wife, Mindy, of Warwick, Howard Tolchinsky and his wife, Alma, of Rocky Point, Mexico, and the late Marjorie Tolchinsky. Dear sister of the late Lenore Gross. Loving grandmother of Sydney and Zachary Tolchinsky. Cherished aunt of Terie, Beth, and Fred. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. in SHALOM MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1100 New London Ave., Cranston. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to your favorite charity.  Shiva will be observed at 285 Pierce Ave., Warwick, Saturday 7-9, Sunday and Monday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.

    To my friends with heavy hearts over the loss of Mom. I hold you in my prays with the hope of knowing Mom has moved to a beautiful new home and will always be happy. I’m truly sorry for your Mom’s loss. God bless you all.

    I had the pleasure of working with Shirley many years ago at HV Collins Company. She was a kind and warm woman who loved life and the loves of her life…her children and grandchildren. She is now reunited with her beloved Margie. God speed and rest well, Shirley.
