Arlene Guttman

DATELINE: EAST GREENWICH, RI

Guttman, Arlene, 90, died Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Home. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Alfred Guttman. Born in Lynn, MA, a daughter of the late Samuel and Leona (Wollner) Clebnik, she had lived in East Greenwich, RI for 3 ½ years, previously a longtime resident of Framingham, MA. She was among the founding members and earliest employees of the Danforth Museum in Framingham, and she retired from Citizen’s Bank at age 83 after providing exemplary customer service for 25 years. Arlene was a member of Temple Beth Am, Hadassah and B’nai B’rith. Devoted mother of Risa Guttman-Kornwitz and her husband, Dr. Norman Kornwitz, of East Greenwich and the late Karla Hergenrother. Dear sister of the late Myra Bromfield. Loving grandmother of Jenna Kornwitz, Alyssa Kullgren and the late Jacob Kornwitz. Graveside services will be held Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in Beit Olam Cemetery, 60 Sudbury Road, Wayland, MA. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to NEADS, PO Box 1100, Princeton, MA 01541.  Shiva will be private.

    I have such wonderful memories of playing bridge with Arlene. We had a mutual admiration society, and I fondly remember her kindness, humor and intelligence. She was a wonderful lady.

    My sister, brother, and I send our sincere condolences on the loss of Arlene. I have lots of memories of picking her up with my mother and father in the car and taking them to bridge. She was a fine lady and so proud of her children and grandchildren.
