Dickens, Isabelle F., 98, died Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Kent County Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert C. Dickens. Born in Central Falls, daughter of the late Harry and Martha (Sigal) Fruit, she had lived in Warwick for 12 years, previously living in Pembroke Pines, FL. She graduated from Pawtucket High School, Class of ’36 and RI College of Education (now RIC), Class of ’40.  Isabelle was an elementary school and junior high math teacher in Pawtucket, Seekonk, and Attleboro. She was a life member of the National Council of Jewish Women and the Jewish Seniors Agency Women’s Association, as well as a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association. Isabelle enjoyed knitting, cross-stitch, reading, Mah Jongg, and Sudoku puzzles in her free time. Devoted mother of Michael Dickens and his wife, Kathy, of Preston, CT and Harold Dickens and his wife, Linda, of Brentwood, CA. Dear sister of the late Gertrude Pansey. Loving grandmother of Katie, Molly, Benjamin, Rebecca, Daniel, Rachel, and Leah. Cherished great-grandmother of Donovan, Ethan, Ripley, Ezra, and Iggy. Funeral services and shiva will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 245 Waterman Street, Providence, RI 02906.

    Feeling deep sadness for Aunt Isabelle’s passing. The last of all our Dickens clan elders, I will always have a special place in my heart for her.

    Isabelle was a close colleague at Brennan Junior High in Attleboro.
    A wonderful and respected teacher.
    I greeted her often at Tamerisk.
    I shall miss her.
