Sylvia Kaplan

Kaplan, Sylvia, 89, died Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Steere House, Providence.  She was the beloved wife of the late Stanley T. Kaplan. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Samuel and Bertha Gregerman, she had lived in Cranston for 60 years before moving to Providence recently. Sylvia worked in her family bakery for 40 years. Devoted mother of Barry Kaplan and his wife, Pearl, of Cranston.  Dear sister of the late Sidney, Milton, and Harriet Gregerman and Rose Kaufman.  Loving grandmother of Jenny and Melissa.  Cherished great grandmother of Annabel, Coralie, Victoria, Benjamin, and Nathaniel. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in LINCOLN PARK CEMETERY, 1469 Post Rd., Warwick.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Steere House, 100 Borden St., Providence, RI 02903.  Shiva will be observed at 28 Davis Ave., Cranston, Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.

    I will always remember her smiling in her bakery smiling behind the counter and Stanly’s famous brownies. I wish I knew of her passing she was my fathers sister.

    Dear Barry,
    So sorry to hear about your mother’s passing. I have so many fond memories of her and the time we all spent working in the bakery close to 50 years ago.We were both teenagers. I learned a lot from both your Mother and Dad.. I think of you all with fond memories. So sorry for your loss..
